More Info About Vitamins And Minerals In Eggs

Nancy asks…

Is it true that eggs lose all of their vitamins and minerals through cooking?and that all thats left is the?

protein and the cholesterol? is it true that in order to,preserve its nutritional content that eggs are best hard-boiled?

Jeff answers:

Most food loses some nutritional value through cooking, but the egg is still a valuable source of protein, low in calorie, and easy to prepare. Hard-boiled eggs are especially good for dieting, because they lack additional fat, store easily, and can be prepared ahead of time.

The fat in eggs is stored primarily in the yolk. Most fat-free diets recommend discarding that yolk and sticking to egg-whites. The low Carb diets, however, use the entire egg, yolk and all. Tests have shown that the high fat diet leads to quicker weight loss, but the low fat diet, while slower, is healthier. A calorie-counted healthy balance of food is undoubtedly the best method of all!

George asks…

What are the cheapest sources of carbohydrates, proteins, fat and vitamins?

In other words, what are the cheapest products to buy to have a complete nutrition?
I was thinking about:
carbohydrates: oat meal and bread
protein: lentils, beans and eggs
vitamins: bananas
fat: butter
minerals: tomatoes

Jeff answers:

Less expensive source of…

Carbs… Is rice and beans.
Protein… Chicken, eggs..
Vitamins… Fruits and veg (a variety) No one fruit or veg has it all.
Fat… You get that when you eat the meat (a 2 for 1 deal)
minerals… Meat… ( 3 for 1 deal)

However, the key is to eat a variety. As I mentioned before, no one item contains all the nutrients.

Lisa asks…

is there a difference between the number of vitamins and minerals in a raw egg and a cooked egg?

I was just wondering if there is a difference because I have heard and read in some fitness magazines that some people who work out drink raw eggs, and i’ve never really seen a reason why.

Jeff answers:

No.
“The protein in raw eggs is only 51% bio-available, whereas that of a cooked egg is nearer 91% bio-available, meaning the protein of cooked eggs is nearly twice as absorbable as the protein from raw eggs.”

Is taking in 1100% daily value of vitamin C bad for you?

Jus drank a jug of sunny :D

Jeff answers:

Excess of water soluble vitamins will pass out through the urine, giving you “expensive pee”. I would be way more concerned about the sugar content you would have consumed in a whole container of sweetened juice. Doing so often could make a person more likely to develop Type II Diabetes.

Thomas asks…

I need the help with my Bearded Dragon.?

I have a Bearded Dragon that has somehow injured it’s self badly. The Beardie is apx 9-11 months old. He has his own cage so I know it didn’t happen due to a fight. He has a very large cut on his beard starting at the tip and going down to the end of his jaws. I have looked at it and it appears to just be trying to fall off. The injury keeps getting worse though and now there is more cuts on the other side of his beard as well. The tissue underneath looks very red and bruised and when I look under his tongue it too looks bruised as well. His tongue has gone from the light pink/ white color to a yellow color and has bloodshot veins that you can see on the tip. I have been keeping it clean and using neosporin to treat it but it just seems to be getting worse. I need to know what I can do to help him before I lose him. I’d rather not have to take him to a vet if I can take care of him at home instead, so I am hoping someone else has dealt with this issue before and can help me. I think the skin of his beard is trying to fall off but I’m concerned that if it does that it won’t regrow. I don’t want him to suffer anymore than he is now and have no idea what to do. I am also concerned that this might be due to my kids feeding it some toads they found. I didn’t realize that they had fed them to my Beardies until It was done and over with. They did it when I was shopping so by time I got home the toads had all been eaten. Now I’m concerned that this injury might be due to the toads poisoning him. I read that toads secrete a poison from their paratoid gland to keep from being eaten. I don’t know if this is what’s going on or if this is something entirely different. After he ate the toads he stopped eating for almost a week now. I have to force feed him the past few days just so he’ll eat. This is how I found his injury in the first place. When I picked him up to feed him I saw blood on my hand, this was 3 days ago now. The skin of his beard is what is cut, the tissue underneath the injury looks fine except the fact that it looks like it might be bruised. I can’t swear that this is the case however as I have never seen a Bearded Dragons flesh before. His skin looks like it’s just trying to fall off and that is why I’m concerned. I don’t know if it will grow back if it does come off or if the skin can even be saved. I have had my Dragons for almost a year and I try to take VERY good care of them. The enclosure he is in has no glass or sticks to cause the injury. His enclosure has 1 lace rock and a heat rock in it with sand as a media ( and yes I know ppl say the sand can cause impaction).I removed the sand as soon as I found the injury so now he is in a clean enclosure with on the heat rock in it. He has a good working uv bulb and he gets lots of attention everyday. I feed him veggies as well as crickets, meal worms, and I supplement his diet with necessary calcium and vitamin supplements. I know I may not know everything about these lizards but I have researched them both before and after getting them. I do my best to take excellent care of my pets and this is why I am so worried about this, I don’t want him to suffer anymore than he already has. I am trying to get him in to a vet to be seen but until I can find one that can help him I am hoping someone can help me with this issue before it’s too late to do anything. I had another post of this question but due to some ignorant comments from people who thought they knew best and felt the best way to prove it to me was to insult me my kids, my parenting and my ability to take care of my pets. I decided to rewrite it so there was hopefully no confusion about the issue I this time. I welcome any suggestions and answers so long as you are respectful and don’t try to insult me or tell me that I have no right to have pets etc. If you can’t be constructive with your comments please don’t post it. All other comments are graciously welcomed and appreciated.
Well good news I finally got a hold of a vet that deals with exotics and discussed the situation with him in length. The vet says he may have burned his skin on his heat rock and that the skin will grow back if it does fall off. He said that the ointment and treatments I have been using are correct and to continue to do them. He said that seems as I am doing the right things to care for him that it is up to him now. If he is strong willed he should be fine if not then I will notice a rapid decline and I can bring him in to get him checked out. I really thank you all for your answers they were very helpful.

Jeff answers:

While I have never had that problem I did have a bearded dragon for about 7 years. First of all look up the medicine that u use on ut to make sure that it will not effect the dragon in a negative way. Clean his cage asap in order to make sure that nothing in the cage is making it worse. Make sure that he gets plenty of water. When dragons are hurt they require more water then normal. It helps heal them. Don’t drown him but make sure he is drinking regularly. Continue to apply some medical ointment to the area just make sure that you have looked up information and confirmed that it will have no ill effects on your dragon. Try this for two days. If nothing gets better bring him to a vet that has lots of experience with reptiles. I wish you the best of luck.

Mirror, Mirror on the wall ..?

What’s the best way to handle the return of youthful acne when you’re no longer youthful? I’ve noticed that if I start taking new vitamin supplements … say something like Gensing, for example, I start getting pimples like the ugly kid at prom. Is this common or is my body trying to tell me something … like I’m a freak of nature???

Jeff answers:

It is a change in chemicals which could go away shortly, or indicate that you allergic to something in your diet. Acne, pustules and papules can indicate a infection.

Suggestion, use a cleanser with salicylic acid twice daily and moisturize! This should help reduce the appearance of your acne. If the salicylic acid doesn’t work then try benzoyl peroxide, which is more drying and cause whitening of the skin. Both have antibacterial, ie anti-acneic responses.

Nancy asks…

is this good info? remember i havent finished ALL about them. this is just a little about them. so it it good?

Why Do They Make A Good Pet?
Pros! ?
They are always there for you when you are down!

You can teach one to do tricks, and very few will talk and whistle for you, males are better at doing that then females!
You can feed them almost any fruit and veggie that you have in your refrigerator, just make sure that they don’t have seeds, they are toxic to all birds!
They get along with most kids and most adults, although, still keep supervision with them when around kids!
Easy to maintain (food, cleaning, grooming)
They clean themselves
Males can whistle if you teach them
Quiet
Can eat a variety of foods
Perfect size (in my opinion)
They get attached to you

Good beginner bird and are easy to tame and not very expensive or noisy they are good and loved even with professional bird owners
They love looking at them selves

Cons ?
Some prefer not to be touched on the head.
They can live to be about 15 years or older.
They thrive for attention everyday, meaning one would need at least 1 hour a day to be let out of the cage.
They can be expensive when it comes to vet bills, toys, and other stuff!

They can be a little loud, but not as loud as most macaws or parrots.
They can be messy, especially when they have gone “food hunting” for seeds, and when they get their “dust” everywhere

CAGE
The cage should be about 3 feet tall, 2-3 feet wide and 1-2 deep.
There should be a small nest to sleep in
At least two perches
Food and water dish
Cuttlebone
One or two toys
Some of the things can be placed outside of the cage so its not crowded on the inside

HYGIENE
A cockatiel should make yearly visits to the vet!
A cockatiels cage should be cleaned once or twice per week
It is important and almost VITAL there is a Avian Veterinarian with in 30 miles of your location.
To clean a cockatiel mist the bird with water or a grooming spray.
Clipping flight feathers is not necessary, but when done correctly it can help prevent injury or escape; consult an avian veterinarian on what is best for your bird
Nails should be trimmed by a qualified person to prevent injury to the bird

FOOD
A commercial cockatiel seed mix is generally regarded as suitable along with a good vitamin supplement
Pellet diets will also provide a fairly balanced feed, however it does not contain the phytonutrients (antioxidant pigments) that are found in vegetables, fruits, grains, and seeds, so should be supplemented.
supplement your cockatiel’s diet with green foods such as dandelion leaves, weeds, carrot tops, celery, watercress, spinach, peas, seedling grasses, and millet.
Various fruits will also be enjoyed such as apples, oranges, bananas and others.
Cuttlebones are recommended to help provide calcium and to help keep the beak trim. Proteins can be offered in the form of mynah pellets, game bird starter, dog food, and even mashed hard-boiled eggs.
Grit should not be provided. Although it was previously thought that grit was needed by cockatiels, it has been found that they do not need grit and can actually cause problems if given to cockatiels. Parrots that eat seed whole without shelling it first require grit, but cockatiels shell their seed before eating it, so don’t need grit.
Give your cockatiel fresh drinking water every day. You can also add soluble vitamins and minerals to the water.

SIGNS OF SICKNESS
You should really try to weigh your bird on a weekly basis if possible – even better would be if you could do this once a day. If you can do this, you’ll be able to detect the slow loss of weight and body mass that a cockatiel undergoes when ill. A reliable indicator of illness is if your cockatiel stops eating and a loss of weight can verify this symptom.
Feather picking is yet another one of the common signs of a sick cockatiel. There may be an underlying disease of even a parasitic infection that is causing your bird to groom excessively. However, behavioral problems can sometimes be the issue. A combination of these factors may be at play in certain cases. To determine the underlying cause, you will need to take your cockatiel to vet to rule out disease.
Obviously, if your cockatiel is vomiting, this is a clear indication of illness. For your bird to develop a symptom as serious as vomiting indicates a detrimental condition. Vomiting could be indicative of critically dangerous conditions such as ingestion of some type of poison, a serious infection, or blocked bowels. If your cockatiel is experiencing continuing instances of vomiting, you need to seek assistance from a veterinarian immediately.
Another one of the common signs of a sick cockatiel is periodic sneezing. A sinus infection is often to blame. Your veterinarian will need to examine your cockatiel to determine the infectious agent as there are numerous causes of sinus infections. The most common causes of sinus infections are fung

Jeff answers:

It’s mostly good, but…

Seeds are not generally toxic, especially in vegetables – you need to be a lot more specific. You routinely eat peas (which are seeds), green beans, bananas and berries, and so can birds.

On the cons, you might mention that their dust makes them a bad choice for people with respiratory problems.

Drop the “or grooming spray”. Water is generally better.

You should reword the start of your food section. It currently seems to imply that a seed mix does contain vitamins and phytonutrients and doesn’t need to be supplemented with fresh food (but it’s generally worse than pellets).

For protein, we give our birds meat. Many like beef or chicken as long as it’s in small pieces.

“Parrots that eat seed whole without shelling it” – There are many birds that do this and require grit. I don’t think any of them are parrots.

Good advice on the weighing.

You should distinguish between regurgitating food – which is perfectly healthy – and vomiting, which is indeed serious.

Replace “periodic” with “frequent”. Periodic could mean once a day, which isn’t a problem

Overall, a good start..

James asks…

Perfectly normal, ovaries healthy, so why can I not conceive?

January of 2011, I was diagnosed with endometriosis. In February, the following month, I went in for a laparoscopy as well as a D&C; to remove the lesions I had growing inside of me. The doctor put me on progesterone for a month after that, and since then has said that everything is looking healthy and seems to be back on the right track. So why am I still having difficulties conceiving? I was told that the most fertile time for a woman who has just had a D&C is the weeks following the procedure. Before I knew I had endometriosis, my hubby and I had been trying for our 2nd child since December of 2010. It’s been about 6 months, and still no luck. I’ve been taking prenatal vitamins since then, also. I have researched my case day in and day out, and no one seems to have had a D&C procedure who did not have a miscarriage. I did not miscarry, nor was I pregnant. The reason behind the laparoscopy/D&C was so that the doctor could remove the endometrial lining within my uterus. Family and friends have told me, be patient and it will happen when you least expect it. But when you are praying for something that you both desperately want with one another, waiting can become your worst enemy. I don’t get it. I have calculated my periods, and when I’m ovulating, and still nothing. Need I mention, my husband did drugs for 7 months. He stopped using in November of 2010. I know that significantly lowers sperm count, but haven’t his boys had enough time to recover? I have become very impatient, and some days I’d just like to give up and walk away. If the doctors are telling us everything looks great & healthy, then what in the world is taking so long?

Jeff answers:

Endometriosis causes infertility. Therefore, the clock would start AFTER you’ve been successfully treated for it. Once given a clean bill of health, it can take up to a year to conceive. So the clock started in February, and going by that, it’s only been a few months. The uterine lining is a very delicate part of getting pregnant, yours has just been traumatized by surgery. Give your body a chance. If you’re still not pregnant by the year mark (February), see a fertility specialist for further evaluation.

Good luck.

Lisa asks…

4 months ttc.. what else can I do?

Sorry it’s so long, please answer?? I am at 13 dpo and got a Bpn today, so I am pretty sure my chances for this month are shot. My husband and I had sex on the days leading up to ovulation this month but the day that I actually did ovulate he had a horrible stomach flu so we couldn’t…

I bought pre-concieve (equivalent to pre-seed) the day I ovulated but could not use it until the next day due to hubby being sick. We are going into month 5 now once I get af next week (long luteal phase). What more can I do to better our chances?

I have been on prenatals since the month before we actually started trying, I cut my caffiene intake in half, hubby has been getting lots of vitamin c, oranges, etc… we bd every 1 to 2 days once before bed with my butt up for about a week straight. What more can I do? I know some of you have been trying for much longer than us so I don’t mean to be inconsiderate by being so eager, it’s just that it took me 2 months with hardly any trying (sex once around the 14th day) when I concieved my daughter and I don’t want the age difference to be more than 5 years and she will be 5 in January. My sister and I were 7 years apart and it was hell, we hated each other and were in 2 totally different worlds!!! Anyways, any suggestions would be great!!! Good luck to all you other ttc’ers and congrats to all you new BFP’ers, lol!!!
Thanks nazook… we want a boy for #2 as well but will be happy with whatever g-d gives us as long as he gives it to us healthy and soon! Lololol… I read that 24 to 36 hours is enough time for him to “reload” unless he has a low sperm count. So wierd, it only takes 1 to fertilize an egg and he sends millions “up there” how is it that 1 out of millions just can’t seem to find the damn egg???

Jeff answers:

Argh.. I totally understand you… It will be our second try in the next two days for baby #2… Having missed/messed up the first try is frustrating/disappointing… I know there are others out there who have tried longer… I guess only someone who is currently trying can understand how it feels. It’s easy for someone who isn’t [trying] to say “give it some time” :-P

As another person said… It sounds like you know what you are doing. It may be too early to think about it now.. But keep in mind that it might not be you – it could be him.

Isn’t 1 to every 2 days too much? I’m just wondering if that’s enough time for your husband’s body to replenish the batches(sperm count) that are uh.. Leaving. Remember.. It’s best that each batch is fully loaded (no pun intended). I’m guessing the more often you do it the less loaded they are… (again, no pun intended).

We are trying to conceive a boy (we’ll be happy if it’s another girl too) and some of the info I’ve read states not to do it too much. I can’t list sites, sorry.. I have tons of bookmarks I wouldn’t even know where to begin ehehhe

Sorry I’m not much help.. But I wish you the best of luck…

…sprinkling baby dust all over us… :-)

More Info About Best Vitamins For Skin Health

Laura asks…

Which vitamins are best for these health issues?

I’m looking to improve my health with vitamins, I already exercise and eat fairly well. I am often stressed out which leads to constipation and skin problems. I am constantly tried and need to nap right after work, which makes sleeping at night difficult. If you could suggest a few vitamins that might help me and I can get easily, like at a health food store, that would be great.
Also anything that might help with weight loss or improve hair growth!
Thanks

Jeff answers:

You should be careful with supplements because some, when taken in high doses, can be toxic.

Constipation: Vitamin C, also relieved by grains, oats, bran, veggies.

Skin problems: Vitamin A, and a slew of others. More easily treated by having a skin regimen that involves exfoliating, cleansing, removing extra oil, and a toner to minimize pores. No need to spend a lot. Target has an apricot scrub for under $3 and toner is nothing more than witch hazel which is about $1 at any drugstore.

Energy: Vitamin B12. Try not napping after work, going to bed at the same time every night, relaxation exercises, ear plugs, night mask, soft music, no caffeine within 4 hours of bed time. Exercising 3 times a week will give you an incredible amount of energy when done regularly. This will also help with weight loss. Try swimming at night at a local pool. That will make you veddy veddy sleepy. Exercise regulates so much of what we need.

Hair growth: Biotin. It’s already found in most hair products though.

More Info About Best Vitamins For Energy And Mood

Susan asks…

Please Read, Have symptoms of depression, anxiety, bipolar?

I would appreciate if you read all of this :)

Well I just wanted to let you know things that I’ve been observing and doing for the past year that has helped me so much with my diagnosis of bipolar which comes with depression and anxiety. Seriously, I can’t even sleep for days without my heavy loads of medication, but these ways of doing things really helps with all of this. At first I thought it wouldn’t help then, I just tried and found it really helped. Here are some things that naturally helps that you can do on your own.

First of all never call your self sick or label yourself. You must accept yourself also. Just treat yourself for your symptoms, like a cold in a way. Notice your symptoms, like when you notice a cough, treat it, but don’t obsess over it, and you’ll notice improvement the best. Remember things can always be worse so make the most of what you can as you try to improve your situation.

To feel better you have to want it and believe you’ll be okay, and once you believe it and want it, you’ll start asking people questions and be interested on your own on how to be stable. You’ll also feel a relief that you will find help soon enough. All the help you need is within yourself and other places out there.

The body works by chemical reactions and foods are chemicals consumed to help the body carry on things that the body needs to do. So it’s important to get all nutrients needed. Take half a multi-vitamin a day, try taking vitamin b-stress complex daily, and take omega 3-6-9 supplements which is proven to help with nourishing the brain.Take it for a few weeks and you’ll notice the difference.

Also, mood problems can occur from hormonal imbalances, like low thyroid levels.
It is also very important to get sunlight daily which helps boost the mood. Exercise helps boost the mood and and take care of excess energy. It helps with better sleep at night.

Make sure you sleep and wake up at a regular schedule. Sleep is very important to help the mind heal and to be in a good mood. Get 8hrs of sleep each night. No more than ten because too much sleep can make you feel groggy.

Another thing is try to change any negative or stressful thought you have to an optimistic one. Even if it doesn’t feel like you believe it, tell yourself you believe it. Also, try not to label as much and just be, just say things are just the way they are, you are the one who puts meanings on things. I once was told everything is love, atleast some sort of love, and everything else is your own perception. Jealousy, hate anger, resentment takes away calmness from people, and a sense of peace in ones’ mind is important. it’s also important to have a general love for humanity.

Also stay away from stimulating things, no hair spray, markers, chocolate, tea, coffee, horror flicks. Anything that causes that high or rushed feeling causes stress on the body.

I’m diagnosed with bipolar from three different doctors. This information works for anyone

Jeff answers:

Well done on discovering the power of pma!
I used to suffer badly from depression, but after realising that negativity can only affect me if i allow it to, i have changed my life for the better. I ditched my partner(he insulted me so often i almost believed him), and began to realise that I AM a strong, capable, intelligent person, and my life has really improved.
Instead of relying on medication, however, I’ve found that exercise has really boosted my mood and self esteem. I’ve even lost a bit of weight, which is an added bonus!

From my understanding it is a scam!! I saw it today & did some research & found a website of complaints. Check out
www.infomercialscams.com/scams/the_greatest_vitamin_in_the_world , it shows several complaints & how people have been trying to get a refund, but no luck.

Sandra asks…

don lapre greatest vitamins in the the world is a scam.?

Jeff answers:

Don Lapre is one hell of a salesman.

He sells dreams and hopes and not much else.

His vitamins are like all the rest, his marketing scheme like many others. I’m sure someone made money after buying his kit, but I would bet that the person that made the most money was Don Lapre, and he didn’t make it from vitamins, he made it from your buying the kit.

More Info About Vitamins And Supplements Information

Richard asks…

What’s the best web site to find detailed information on vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplements?

Info like why it should be taken, how much, and it interactions. I had thought about ginko, ginseng, b-vitamin complex, and multi-vitamins.

Jeff answers:

Nancy asks…

Information concerning vitamins or supplements for healthy eyes.?

I have recently started working later shifts and much of my work is done at night. At first it was quite difficult, but my eyes have adapted and I can see far better at night than I previously believed possible. However, I would still like to keep my eyes as healthy and alert as possible.

I was wondering if there are any non-prescription vitamins or supplements that I can take on top of a daily multi-vitamin that would, honestly, help me see better at night. Healthy eyes are still my main concern. All the counter vitamins seem to claim some role in ocular health, but I wanted to know if there are any that I can take in a stronger dosage that will help my vision.

Other information: My eyes are perfectly healthy in every way, and I have no vision impairments, I would just like to find something that would help improve my vision. Any information about natural supplements or foods that help promote good vision would be greatly appreciated.

– Thanks.

Jeff answers:

If you eat a healthy diet including fruits and veggies, you don’t need mulitvitamins, eye vitamins or supplements. If your eyes are healthy and your vision is not impaired, there is nothing to improve. You can’t become Superman. The single most important thing you can do to protect your sight is not smoke.

The human eye is not designed for good vision in dim light. If you are having trouble seeing at work, turn on the lights, get brighter lights or move the lights closer to your work station.

3)Also is there a directory of wholesalers who do dropshipping ? I will be very greatful for any info about the wholesalers.
